Frequently asked questions
What Prem-Line is, how the process works, and how to work with us.
- What is Prem-Line?
- Prem-Line is a company in Antrim County, Northern Michigan that makes living-culture pellets — cold-pelleted, fermented pellets that keep a defined, living microbial culture alive in the finished product. We make them for livestock feed, aquaculture feed, and soil amendment.
- What makes Prem-Line different from conventional feed and soil pellets?
- Conventional pelleting uses hot extrusion and steam conditioning — a cook step that sterilizes the product, so any live culture dies in manufacturing. Prem-Line uses a proprietary low-temperature process with no cook step, so a defined microbial consortium survives into the finished pellet.
- What does the fermentation do?
- A defined consortium of lactic-acid bacteria and yeasts ferments the feedstock before pelleting: it pre-digests proteins into peptides and amino acids and starches into simpler sugars, generates organic acids that stabilize the product, and lowers anti-nutritional factors such as phytates, tannins, and trypsin inhibitors.
- What products does Prem-Line make?
- Four lines off one fermentation platform: livestock feed pellets (round 9 mm or rectangular 12 × 6 mm), aquaculture feed pellets (sinking, sized to species, typically 4–8 mm), soil-amending pellets for growers (round 6 mm), and custom formulations for trial customers with sustained volume needs.
- Is it only for animal feed?
- No. The same fermentation process is tuned per application: livestock feed, aquaculture feed, soil-amending pellets for growers and orchardists, plus custom work. Feed is where we're starting; soil biologicals are in early trials.
- What stage is the company at?
- The facility, pelleting line, hammer mill, mixing system, and controlled-environment space are installed and operational. Prem-Line is producing samples and running early field trials in aquaculture and soil operations, with process refinement underway. Livestock feed is a product line in development. The company is scaling toward a broader regional rollout.
- Where is Prem-Line located and where does it sell?
- Prem-Line is based in Antrim County, Northern Michigan. Distribution is regional direct sales, supported by regional supplier partnerships for raw materials.
- Does Prem-Line publish its process details?
- No. Process specifics — temperatures, microorganism identities, ratios, and formulations — are held as trade secrets and are intentionally not published. Detailed metrics, trial data, and process specifics are shared with qualified partners and investors under NDA.
- Does Prem-Line make animal-health or performance claims?
- No. Prem-Line makes no animal-health, disease, or feed-performance claims. The product is described by what it is and how it is made, not as a drug or a performance guarantee.
- How can I become a supplier, trial customer, or investor?
- Email info@prem-line.com. Prem-Line welcomes feed/food-grade raw-material suppliers (non-GMO preferred, organic where available, ideally regional), trial customers in livestock, aquaculture, and growing operations, and investors and partners.
